Brittany Buongiorno was born in Los Angeles in 1988 and moved to New York City to continue her studies in photography at the School of Visual Arts in 2008. In the spring of 2011, Brittany graduated with a BFA in Photography from SVA receiving the Reportage by Getty Images Award for Emerging Talent. While at SVA, Brittany was also nominated for the Tierney Fellowship Grant, which supports emerging artists in the field of photography.

Having moved homes nearly 20 times in her life, Brittany grew up with a desire to travel, explore, and document her surroundings. In 2009, Brittany began photographing a family of 7 children and their 26-year-old single mother living in one of New York City’s most dangerous neighborhoods, the South Bronx. This series led to her second documentary project about a Dominican teenager named Devin from Washington Heights who has big dreams of becoming a fashion designer. With several collaborative documentaries in the works, Brittany plans to continue her passion for telling people’s stories in photographs. She hopes that overtime, her work will help to evolve the way in which others perceive the world outside of their own lives.

Brittany is currently freelancing as a Production Coordinator at a NYC based Production Company specializing in commercial photography and continuing to pursue independent documentary series. For more of Brittany's work, visit her website please click here.
