David Degner

David Degner grew up in Georgia and studied philosophy and journalism at Western Kentucky University.  After interning at a few newspapers and bouncing around the world he landed in Egypt and has been concentrating on the Middle East and Northern Africa for the past 3 years.

Naturally, his recent work has been dominated by the revolutionary uprisings, and he has photographed for most major publications in Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, and Syria, but he specializes in humanising stories of culture, and lifestyle.

He strongly believes in being a journalist as well as a photographer.  He speaks Arabic and is well connected, so he can make creative images with a minimum of direction.
