Every year the UN publishes a report documenting the civilian lives lost in Afghanistan. 2015 was the deadliest year yet in America's longest war which began with the US-led invasion of the country 14 years ago. The 2015 report 11,000 civilians were killed or wounded in Afghanistan in that calendar year.  As usual in these situations women and children are particularly hard hit and the violence not only continues but appears to be growing as UN and NATO forces withdraw.

The deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan has forced thousands to seek refuge in neighbouring countries as well as Europe. Authorities are quick to put their names to statements of condemnation of the atrocities, but the had fact is that these reports are quickly forgotten.
