
Mae Ryan (b. 1987) is a documentary photographer and multimedia producer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a graduate of the Documentary Photography and Photojournalism Program at The International Center of Photography and holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design from Stanford University.
Throughout 2010, Mae documented the Convent of Mary the Queen, a home for aging nuns who are approaching the end of their lives. This work reflects Mae’s continued interest in how people engage with religion, death and personal meaning in their everyday lives.
Her work has been published in TIME Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The FADER and Architectural Record. In 2010 she received the Directors Scholarship at The International Center of Photography and attended the Eddie Adams Workshop XXIII. While at Stanford, she received three grants to pursue personal documentary projects.
In addition to her photographic work, Mae engages with storytelling through multimedia platforms and is currently producing pieces for Magnum In Motion.
