The winners of this year's Prix de la Photographie in Paris include three of our own. There were two divisions of submissions: professional and non-professional. Within those two divisions there were six different categories of images: advertising, book, fine art, nature, portraiture, and Press. Palani Mohan’s ‘Human Horses’ work about the trade of pulling Rickshaws in Kolkata, India was selected as second place in this year’s Prix de la Photographie Paris portraiture category. Marco Di Lauro's work took three different awards. His work about the Niger food crisis won first place in the press/feature story category, his images from the earthquake in Haiti won second place in the category Press/general news story, and finally his story on the Kenyan Pumwani Maternity Ward took honorable mention also in the category of Press/feature story. Emerging talent photographer Sebastian Liste's work titled "Urban Quilombo" that was a study of a community living in an abandoned chocolate factory took second place on the non-professional side of things in the press category. The aim of this competition is to not only promote the appreciation of photography but to discover new talent and to introduce photographers worldwide to the artistic community of Paris.
