Armando Sanchez

Armando L. Sanchez (b.1987) is an editorial photographer based in Chicago, Ill.

Armando developed a passion for photojournalism while growing up in Austin, Texas before attending Western Kentucky University. As a student, Armando interned as a staff photographer at the Chicago Tribune, the Tennessean, the State Journal-Register and the Saginaw News.

Before graduating from WKU with a bachelor of interdisciplinary studies in 2012, he was awarded Best Single Photograph and third place in the photojournalism category of the Hearst Journalism Championship. He was also awarded Student Photographer of the year by the Kentucky National Press Association in 2011 and was a Chips Quinn Scholar in 2008. He also received honors from the Illinois Press Photographers Association in 2013.

Armando’s work has been featured on The New York Times Lens Blog and CNN Photos blog. He has been published by several national clients including The Associated Press, The New York Times, TIME, and the Wall Street Journal.
