Iraqi Special Operations Forces Try to Retake Mosul from ISIS
In late October, Iraqi Special Operations Forces began an operation to retake the northern city of Mosul from the control of the Islamic State, which overran the city and nearby villages in 2014. Reportage photographer Laurent Van Der Stockt accompanied the 1st Brigade, under the command of Major Salam (Jassem Hussein Al Obeid), as its forces became the first Iraqi units to enter Mosul since the ISIS takeover.
