A look inside the Senkekwe Mountain Gorilla Orphanage at Congolese Conservation Authority (ICCN) headquarters in Virunga National Park, Democratic Republic of Congo. The center provides refuge for young mountain gorillas, many of whom have lost their mothers to poachers or rebel fighters, and in turn they attach themselves to the wardens like a child to a parent. The center is not a zoo or a research facility, but a refugee camp for primate victims of war.
