Robert Nickelsberg

Robert is based in New York.

Robert Nickelsberg, has been contributing to Time Magazine for over 20 years. He began his photojournalism career in the early 1980's based in El Salvador covering the political-military insurrections in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras.

After moving to Bangkok, Thailand to cover South East Asia in 1986, Nickelsberg headed further west into India. Nickelsberg's primary outlet was Time International's Asia edition which closely covered the regional turmoil.

The South Asian coverage included martial law in Pakistan, Soviet troops, Mujahideen and the Taliban in Afghanistan, social upheaval in India and a treacherous civil war in Sri Lanka.

Nickelsberg stayed in New Delhi, India until 1999. He covered the 2003 Iraq invasion and has extensively covered terrorism and homeland security issues.
