Karen Dias

Karen Dias is a documentary photographer from Mumbai. In 2009, she moved to the UAE to work as a staff photojournalist at UAE's national daily newspaper Gulf News covering the news, sports and lifestyle beats. After four years in the Gulf, she moved back to her home town Mumbai in 2012 and has been working independently ever since. She has photographed for and been published in The Washington Post, Al Jazeera, Roads & Kingdoms, GOOD, The Guardian, BBC, National Geographic Traveller India and NewsDeeply among others. Her work focuses on stories about women and environmental issues. In 2016, she was awarded a grant by the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) to produce a reportage about young, inspiring sportswomen in Haryana, a state in northern India infamous for its' high rates of crimes against women.
