Insoo Rah was born in Seoul, Korea in 1980. He started getting into photography in high school in 1997. He earned a BFA in commercial photography at the Chung-Ang University in Korea in 2007, and graduated from School of Visual Arts in New York. He began his work by visiting his aunt’s family in Rock Hill, South Carolina and he has been traveling and photographing a domestic landscape of the southeast. Insoo is always pursuing the answer about how individuals become members in different groups.
Insoo works and lives in New York. His work has been exhibiting in New York and Seoul. He is the recipient for the 2010 Reportage By Getty Images Award for Emerging Talent at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
